Oceania

Coming all the way from Europe, I consider myself very lucky to have had the opportunity to spend part of my life 17 000 km away from where I was born and raised. I realise that I am not the only Dutch girl who has had this opportunity, on the contrary, I probably met about as many Dutchies in Cairns as I would find them on a campsite in Spain, so my destination wasn’t anything near unique. However, everyone’s experience is, and therefore I consider myself a very lucky person, for being able to have this special experience.

Oceania is, as far as I have experienced, one of the most multi-faceted continents you can find. It literally has everything you need, more or less centralised around one place. If you are looking for pretty beaches, you’ll find them here. The same goes for deserts, rain forest, beautiful marine life or even snow! Isn’t the earth beautiful? Take Cairns for example, this is one of the very limited places of earth where two beautiful, complex and totally different ecosystems lie side by side: tropical rainforest meets coral reef. Can you imagine stepping out on the beach after a long hike through a beautiful rainforest? It used to seem an impossible scenaria to me, until the day I had gone there, been there, done that.

My great impression of Oceania isn’t anywhere close to complete yet. As a matter of fact, I’ve spend a year of my life here and have seen many different aspects that the continent has to offer, but all in one country. Oceania as many more, so I expect much more beauty to go… Check out the list below!
